Welcome to fundshelbyschools.org. The fact that you have taken the time to visit this site is evidence of your interest in adequately and equitably funding our schools.
A “perfect storm,” has developed around the issue of school funding. It seems every week that a new plan for improving our schools emerges. This site is part of a community wide conversation to create a plan for adequate and equitable funding of our schools.
We don’t profess to have the answers, but with your help, open-mindedness and creativity, we believe we can find an answer – an answer that guarantees every child in Shelby County a fighting chance at success through a quality education.

Over the last six weeks, 127 people representing 34 different and diverse organizations met to answer the six school funding questions. This presentation represents the areas of consensus between all the participants. Additionally, the presentation provides some possible courses of action under the heading "recommendations" that school, county, city and state leaders should discuss in developing an adequate and equitable local funding model. Though this report has been issued, the conversation and the movement to change how we fund schools doesn't stop here. We want your feedback on the presentation.
